Greetings, medievalists!
Let’s do one final showcase of the upcoming things before the update goes live. This is mostly stuff you’ve requested before, with some extra flavor here and there. We’ve already talked about replacing structures, settler behavior, and additional controls, so now let’s talk about equipment.
Repairing items is something you’ve requested a lot, and we first wanted to improve pathfinding and hauling logic before tackling it properly. But now, it is basically ready.
Repairing items will depend on the type of production station you have. Use the Woodwork Bench and/or Bowyer’s Bench to repair wood-based equipment, the Sewing Station to mend clothes, and the Blacksmith’s Forge to repair metal items. Alternatively, the Armourer’s Table can handle all of these actions.
There are some control options here, too. You can choose how damaged repair materials are allowed to be, which equipment hitpoint threshold should be considered for repairs, and which quality types you want to repair.
Here’s how it works in practice:
It is worth noting that with repairing, you will be able to restore the health of equipment, but you will not be able to improve its quality.
Another thing you’ve asked for is the option to take care of the bodies of your dead pets. We’ve added options to place your beloved companions in a grave or on a pyre, so they can be honored properly.

In addition to that, you can now control which types of animals you want to use at the Butcher Table. We’ve seen your reports about how unpleasant it can be to witness the carcass of your pet being used in production there, and we agree. So, from now on, you can choose what you want to butcher.

And while we are on the subject of animals, you’ll be happy to know that they’ve received a new coat of paint. Literally! Depending on the animal, they may now have different textures that are more appropriate for the period. This is purely cosmetic, but it adds a bit more personality to your settlement.
Just look at them!

We’ve also added a small chance for animals with rare colors to appear. Don’t be surprised if you encounter a dalmatian dog or even an albino bear. The chances are low, but never impossible.
So, when is all of this going live?
Good news – it’s coming this week! These changes have been live on the experimental branch for a while, and after a few tweaks here and there, we feel they are ready to be experienced by everyone.
While you wait, let us know how this feels to you and which announced feature excites you the most. And be sure to…
Stay medieval!
